The Fit Me in Savannah Shape Sorter is a wooden pentagon structure ( made up of sustainable wood ) which is closed from four sides leaving only one side open. It comes with six wooden savannah wildlife pieces which go inside the respective cutouts made on the sides of the box. The side open is meant to be for taking out the pieces once inserted from the sides. The pieces can be safely stored in the cloth bag that comes along. It is a step-up version of a traditional shape sorter which enhances the child’s ability to identify, sort, match and insert the pieces in the correct gaps working on their fine motor and cognitive skills together.
Why Fit Me In Savannah Shape Sorter for your child?
It is a toy which develops visual discrimination and cognitive skills as the child learns that what is in the hand, matches to one of the empty spaces on the box. Since the box is positioned vertically in front of the child, it helps to develop visual orientation as she/he tries to insert the pieces. It introduces abstraction to the child’s brain. It works as an important vocabulary-building tool and introduces the first set of Savannah wildlife to the children. It helps them delve deep into identification and classification. Since the pieces are wooden, they make a sound as they fall inside, this teaches the cause-and-effect relationship to the child. Once the child puts in all the pieces, you can mention that now the box is ‘full’. Then take out all the pieces from the open side and show that it is now ‘empty’.
It also works on the fine motor skills when he/she picks the wildlife pieces and tries to put them in the respective boxes. A parallel development of hand and eye coordination happens during the above action.
